Hi, Everyone!
Our CSA delivery for the week including the New Year is scheduled for Thursday, January 1st. But, since that is New Year's Day, we are hoping you can receive your box on Tuesday, instead. You will not have received a box the previous week, because of the Christmas Holiday. Please confirm that you can pick up on Tuesday. Or, if that day is not good for you, let us know that, too, and we will accommodate you on Thursday.
Please reply to this email with confirmation or instructions.
Your box this Thursday, December 18th will be delivered as usual on Thursday and includes weekly, bi-weekly and monthly subscribers.
Thank you! Patti

Hi, Everyone!
Just another reminder that there will be no CSA boxes this week. Your next and last box for Weekly, Bi-Weekly and Monthly (Protein Share) members is September 11.
Richard and Marissa will be calling each of you for feedback and to help you re-enroll. If you plan your meals around our box, it's such a bargain at $28 per week (Regular) and $43/week (Large). Where can you possibly buy groceries for $28? Not online, not at Whole Foods, not even at Walmart.
So keep us and you going by Enrolling Now at http://www.waverlyfarmsvirginia.com/members and enjoy a wonderful fall/winter harvest, including:
Butternut Squash
Sweet Potatoes
Leeks
Broccoli
Lettuces
Kale
Arugula
Cabbage
Carrots
Beets
Brussels Sprouts
Turnips
And much, much more!
Hope you had the happiest of Labor Days!

CSA members received potatoes, squash, tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, dill, Swiss chard, okra, cabbage, sweet green, yellow and red bell peppers, and beets. Protein Share members received hamburger and sausage. Our hens laid fresh, completely free-ranged, Animal Welfare Approved, soy-free and Certified Organically-fed eggs for subscribers who chose that option.
Sign up now for the rest of Spring/Summer season and you'll be "in" for Fall/Winter. Shares start at just $28/every other week or weekly. Go to www.waverlyfarmsvirginia.com
Each year at our city home in Boston, I plant our tiny patio with pots of annual flowers and vegetables so they will bloom and fruit in time for July 4th fireworks which are displayed magnificently just outside our living room window. The expense is ridiculous for this one celebration, and our growing season is short. I can't start until early June, and, of course, must be dismantled it all before the snow falls, as early as October.
My husband, Stuart, cringes each year when he sees the bill for the potting soil, transplants, etc., cringes, again, when he sees how much work I put into it, cringes again when he realizes that he will need to water it all (since I am usually at the farm), and cringes a fourth time when I dismantle the whole show.
This year, because we had a lot of new people at the farm, I was late planting pots on the patio. But, Stuart beat me to it. He learned at one of the many seminars we attend on sustainable farming that soil naturally contains seed. So, he decided to water soil left in last year's large pots to see what he could grow. I call them weeds, but he is very defensive. "What distinguishes a weed from another plant, really?", he declares.
This July 4th, we have pots of weeds on our patio. Seriously, he is so happy with his weeds that I have decided to love them, too. One bloomed this week and he was thrilled with his affordable, low maintenance, native flower, which, of course, is going to seed.

Hi, Everyone!
One of our members suggested that I remind everyone that Weekly, Bi-Weekly, and Monthly (Protein only) CSA members receive boxes this week. I will send our regular newsletter on Wednesday night, but we are hoping to have the following in your boxes this week:
- Tomatoes
- Potatoes
- Okra
- Cucumber
- Peppers
- Swiss Chard
- Collards
- Beets
- Carrots
- Dill
This is not the final list - there may be more or less when we actually go to harvest - and we will have the final list in your newsletter. Beets and carrots may be a bit tough or bitter this time of year, so they are not good when eaten raw. Cooking them returns the sweet flavor and soft texture.
WE HAVE EGGS! Our dear flock of mature hens are laying better, and the July 4th break helped, too. We have enough eggs for everyone to have their share this week, but not enough to catch up from two weeks ago as we continue to wait for our adolescent hens to begin "the journey".
Please let me know if you would like to have a substitute for the missing eggs, such as hamburger, honey, goat cheese, tomatoes for canning, etc. Or, a credit to your account, which we am happy to do.
Hope you all had a wonderful July 4th!

Hi, Everyone!
Our Spring/Summer CSA subscription does not include a box during the weeks of July 4th or Labor Day. Since this is the week of July 4th, I just wanted to remind you to not look for a box this Thursday.
We will resume deliveries next week with Weekly and Bi-Weekly and Monthly CSA and Protein Shares. Everyone gets a box the week of July 10th!
Happy Independence Day! Patti

Hi, Everyone!
We sent a schedule of deliveries in your first box, but since I still receive inquiries (and know that it is confusing!) I thought you might appreciate having it in your email, too. A table of deliveries is provided below.
The types of shares are listed across the top of the table. Weeks of the season are listed down the left side. Where there is an x in the column that applies, you can expect a delivery on that week. For instance, if you subscribed to bi-weekly shares, your will receive them next week, June 12 and then again on June 26. Monthly Protein shares will also be delivered next week, and then again on July 10.
I hope this helps. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me at patti_rosenberg@hotmail.com or 214-914-0323. We love hearing from you. Thank you! Patti
