What is a CSA?

  • CSA Stands for Community Supported Agriculture.  Members of the community purchase a “share” of the anticipated harvest, and make payment in advance at an agreed price.  Your pre-season payments help cover the upfront costs of the growing season (seeds, supplies, labor, etc.). All of your money goes to your food and the young farmers who grow it. It is a 100% contribution to the production of local, fresh, safe food.

What do I Get?

  • A share of our harvest each week that is delivered to our pick up locations on Thursday afternoons (home delivery is also an option, for an additional fee of $8/delivery). Each box contains whatever we harvested that week and includes seasonal fruits, vegetables and herbs (see our growing calendar below), plus eggs and meat if you chose those options.
  • Occasionally we also include preserved and baked goods, such as jellies, sauces and breads.
  • Our Weekly Newsletter arrives in your email each Thursday before noon and describes each and every item in your share and offers helpful recipes and suggestions to help you store, cook and enjoy your farm fresh food.
  • A Weekly Pick-up Reminder email arrives in your email on Wednesdays to remind you of your delivery on Thursday. This email also includes your account balance and links for payments so you can pay along the way at your convenience (or all at once).
  • An invitation to visit the farm (by appointment) anytime to learn about the work we do. You'll see our gardens, animals and farm and meet our farmers.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • What is a CSA?  CSA is the initialism for community supported agriculture. A CSA is, in essence, a subscription to farm produce for the season. CSA members receive a weekly box of vegetables with what the farm is currently growing. The CSA benefits the farmer by providing the money at the beginning of the season, and benefits the subscriber with fresh vegetables and fewer trips to the grocery store and farmer’s market.
  • What do I get in my box each week?  Your box will be a variety of what is currently ready to harvest each week. A CSA membership is a wonderful introduction to eating seasonally, and subscribers reap the benefits of fantastic textures and flavors as a result of seasonal eating.
  • Can I get my box without the vegetables I don't eat?  No. CSA boxes are a comprehensive cornucopia of the weekly farm offerings and cannot be altered to specific vegetable preferences.
  • How do I get my box each week?  Subscribers have multiple options for getting the CSA box. The pick-up locations and times can be found here. For an additional fee, home delivery is available.
  • Can I get eggs only when I want them?    Yes, all of the pick up locations have extra eggs available for sale at $6 per dozen. If you would more than a dozen eggs, please contact us prior to your CSA pick-up/delivery day to ensure we bring enough eggs for you to purchase.  If you don't need eggs one week, that's o.k., too.
  • What happens when I go out of town, or if I can’t pick up my box?  If you cannot pick up your box, you can have a friend pick it up, or, we are happy to donate your box to our local food pantry.  If you are going to miss your CSA pick-up, but can make another CSA pick up time, please notify Patti (patti_rosenberg@hotmail.com or 214-914-0323) by noon on Tuesday of the week you wish to change your pick up time. If you forget to pick up your box, we will donate it to.
  • What vegetables will be in my CSA box?  We grow a wide variety of fruits, vegetables, and herbs and you will be provided with a great diversity of produce each week (see above).  Sometimes a bug or disease will favor a particular crop and we are left with little or none, but that is rare.
Will you tell me how to prepare the food in my box each week?  Yes!  You will receive a weekly newsletter before you receive your box each week with what will be included in your box and tips for how to enjoy and preserve the fresh vegetables and fruits!

  • Can I join the CSA after the season has started?  Yes! You can join at a prorated cost, any time during the season until we reach maximum capacity for CSA members.
